884 Improving the Analgesia Prescribing Compliance to NICE Guidelines (NG118) In Suspected Renal Colic Patients Using a Proforma

Abstract Aim To improve analgesia prescribing for patients admitted with suspected renal colic in line NICE guidelines (NG118) an acute district general hospital using a proforma. Method In the first cycle, retrospective review of 16 who presented to emergency department or surgical assessment unit was performed and recorded. A unique proforma then developed including use NSAIDS as first-line when there are no contra-indications, intravenous paracetamol, opioid analgesics omitting antispasmodics. Following implementation proforma, prospective 18 were included second cycle compliance compared. Results Study 34 over 3-month period. 19% had appropriate prescribed which compliant guidelines. 2, 89% prescribed. particular, inappropriate prescription antispasmodics has improved significantly (38 % 1 vs 0 2). Conclusions can serve useful ‘checklist’ symptomatic relief presenting quality standards.
